Mustang Shifters Anyone??

Shifters are hot...most are predators. I wanted to do something a little different;)

The Mustang round ups out west were getting a lot of press and what could be more perfect??

Wild mustangs who've never been saddled! That's a shifter waiting to happen!!

Blurb:
Mustang roundups by the government are nothing new out west. When two horses turn up on Diane’s ranch, she isn’t shocked until they turn into hot men then have sex in her barn. The shifters ask for her help but letting them stay the night turns into much more. All the extra hands help with the chores and fulfill her needs…but wild mustangs deserve to roam and Diane won’t saddle them—bareback is a much better ride!

Excerpt:

Roaming the great plains of Nevada with the wind whipping through his mane, Marshall Featherstone was one with the earth. His ancestors had lived here, taming dogs and horses to work with them. Those days called to his animal side, the times before reservations and government dictated the fate of his people. Looking at his mate, Buck, a perfect, splotchy-paint horse, it felt damn near perfect. All their muscles and free mustang spirits were unleashed as they ran with a mass of untamed horses.

Not all the horses shifted to human form, most didn’t, but Marshall loved that part—being free to explore their true totem and run with the real thing. He and Buck James both loved the wild and rugged land north of Vegas. Bright lights and big cities weren’t for them. Yet, they’d wandered through most of their twenties and had yet to find the female to complete their life. They needed that final piece for them to set down roots and build a home. Marshall wanted a place to call home. Their nomadic days needed to come to an end.

A new noise spooked the horses. Beyond the thunder of hundreds of hooves, Marshall heard something cut the air. Spotlights came down on them, and the group angled in a new trajectory. Fear and panic were fragrant in their reactions. Looking to Buck, Marshall was concerned. The man was sensitive, but in mustang form, he gave in and went wild. He’d earned his nickname “Buck” from his horse behavior.

Other horses pushed into Buck, and one fell. The contact set off Buck, and he kicked and stomped, finally rearing like a rodeo horse trying to dump a rider. Marshall maneuvered out of the group as best he could and came around to his mate. It was unnatural horse behavior, but he couldn’t leave his man. Nothing would separate them.
Losing sight of Buck sent Marshall’s heart pounding. Glimpses helped but a larger horse bounded by and knocked Buck off balance and to the ground. The sounds of vehicles grew closer, and Marshall knew it was a government roundup.

Wild mustangs were dying from disease and lack of food. He could see the ribs of many of the true horses running along the path. The wild grasses were sparse, and the drought and wild fires out west weren’t helping matters, but nature could be rough. Survival of the fittest was how animals lived. Breaking their spirit with saddles didn’t mean salvation for this breed.
No matter what Uncle Sam wanted, no one was taking him and Buck. That would be too dangerous. Finally, Marshall found Buck, who was back on his hooves. Marshall moved in next to him. The bumps and bruises didn’t show yet, but Buck’s gait was off.

They should’ve known better than to shift and go out during the Hunter’s Moon. Mustangs had no natural predators here, but they forgot that man was always the supreme hunter. In some way, man had to dominate every inch of earth and the animals on it.
Marshall picked up the pace and tried to get to the farthest right side of the group so they could veer off to avoid capture. As much as Buck tried, he couldn’t keep up. They’d fall back and be caught for sure. If they were lucky, they could escape, but if they were discovered, Marshall didn’t want to think about what might happen to them.

Generations had kept the secret of animal shifters, people so connected to their animal totem and the spirit of the wild they could become one with them. Shifting between animal and human form was a gift, and the government wouldn’t let them waltz out of custody with that power.
Marshall and Buck would not be the ones to betray their legacy and expose their existence. Buck snorted, and Marshall knew the pain was getting to his lover. When Buck darted out of the group and off down a trail, Marshall followed and prayed no one else did. The herd mentality was sometimes hard to shake, but so many of the other horses were bounding toward the trap that Marshall and Buck broke free.

No one seemed to notice. No one followed.
Buck galloped down the path toward a fence. One of the boards was broken. Marshall turned as Buck crashed through at the weak spot and entered private property.

Marshall turned and trotted to the fence and followed Buck. They might get shot. Weird ranchers sometimes wielded rifles before they saw it was a harmless animal. Marshall waited for some old coot with no teeth and a long beard to rush out of the house. But the pair made it into the barn before anyone appeared. It was a good hiding spot. The government couldn’t invade private property—well, they could and had, but for a couple of horses? It wasn’t worth the potential lawsuit.
Inside, Buck shook his head and paced slowly. They were stronger in animal form, but sharing energy for healing was far more erotic in human form. Marshall nudged Buck’s neck, and the connection helped. The energy sparked, but Marshall sensed Buck’s pain. They needed to rest. This would be safe for now. If they were lucky, no one was home and they could stay the night.

The rustling of feathers made Marshall look to the back of the barn. He didn’t see anything, but the noise seemed to be coming from farther back on property. Feet stomped the ground. Someone lived here and owned those animals. Maybe they were away? Or it was an old deaf guy who wouldn’t be bothered to come out now. Marshall tried to be hopeful. He’d make sure he and Buck were gone by morning.

The pounding of hooves stopped, and Marshall knew the government had the horses in their gates. All those horses were now captives and fenced in for life. The quiet made Marshall’s skin twitch. Only the bird sounds and Buck’s heavy breathing filled the air now. Then a door slammed in the distance. Buck startled and exhaled loudly.

Buck’s injury could be many things, a broken rib or just a bad bruise. Marshall needed to get Buck to human form and look at him, but as the footsteps grew closer, they had a bigger problem to deal with first. They could try to run but Buck wouldn’t last long. There were other ranches, but would they find a safe one before Buck gave out? Marshall had trusted nature to guide him through is life. He had to trust again that they’d made it to the right place to survive.

Dealing with the human world was necessary and not unwelcome, but shifters had to be careful. They lived for the freedom and would die trying to protect each other. Whoever the rancher was, Marshall would die before he’d fall into government hands or let Buck be shot. The big debate was in what form to face the rancher. Human or horse?

Hope you like a shifter or two with hooves instead of claws:) I had a blast writing about these peace-loving desert roamers who find a home!

M/M erotic romance....just in time for Illinois legalization of civil unions (weddings start June 1st)....

Winner Takes All

Released 5/25/11

Genre: M/M Erotic Romance

Blurb:

Kyle wants Jim and Kyle gets what he wants no matter how hard he has to fight. This time, he’ll fight harder than ever because Jim thinks Kyle’s a player and he’s been around players before. He suspects Kyle’s games have ulterior motives, and he’s not about to fold.

As competitors at a tradeshow, they show off their martial arts skills to demonstrate their products, but they soon discover they share a fetish for taking wrestling and fighting to the next level—late night wrestling matches that end with the winner getting whatever he wants. But with everything on the line, it will be a fight to the end to discover which winner takes all.

Excerpt:

Kyle Ogden never got tired of tradeshows. As he and his coworker, Arthur, put together their booth at the Martial Arts Supply Show in Vegas, Kyle kept an eye out for friends and customers.

Like most businesses, even with a big market, it was really a small world. Kyle had started with the Right Fit Equipment company out of college. At first, he’d done everything from Youth Sports to custom athletic shoes, but once his boss had learned Kyle had a brown belt in Karate and was working on other martial arts, she’d put him on the wrestling and very hot martial arts circuit. Kyle loved it!

“Your boy toy is over there.” Arthur nodded to the booth across the aisle. If Kyle was the demo specialist, Arthur was the tech guy.

“Shut it. His company isn’t exactly gay friendly.” Kyle looked over. Jim Park stood there surveying the booth area with his ice queen of a coworker, Ms. Chen. Both were Asian, but Jim was friendly and laid back. Ms. Chen wasn’t very social especially with the competition.

Arthur just shook his head. “He gives you a different excuse every show. Why do you bother?”

“Do you give up every time a potential customer says no?”

“He’s not a customer. He’s the competition. Dating the enemy when you’re in marketing and strategy wouldn’t be smart. Jim’s got some sense. You’re crazy.”

“Well, he won’t date me so it’s not a problem.” Kyle stared at the lean muscle on Jim’s tall body. With dark eyes and straight black hair that flopped into his eyes at times, Jim was hot. Kyle enjoyed the view when Jim bent to work on the booth. A firm ass, strong legs, and a sculpted back all hinted at the sexy man under the clothes.

Jim worked for the private company, Ping Inc. They were smaller but loved to put a dent in Right Fit’s market share. Not only conservative, Ping went for the traditional styles in everything.

“Get yourself an Asian boyfriend and get it out of your system. Jim isn’t going to bite. You’ve been trying for over a year. It’s getting boring,” Arthur said.

“I’ve dated all types of guys, it’s not the Asian thing. It’s him. He’s intense when we talk.”

“I’ve heard he’s straight.”

Kyle shook his head. “No way. He’s playing it for Ms. Chen. Some companies you just can’t be out at. Go distract Ms. Chen.” Arthur had a thing for her. Kyle knew it was just a fantasy, but he’d use Arthur to get Jim alone.

“No, she’s better in my imagination wearing leather and riding me.” Arthur turned and went back to work.

Kyle chuckled. “We’ve all got our things, man. Go ask her how she is with a riding crop?” Working these shows together for a while now, Kyle and Arthur knew each other well. Kyle would lay down good money that Arthur liked his women in charge.

“Kyle! She’d slap me and stab me with those high heels.” Arthur’s tone wasn’t scared or repulsed.

“You’d love it.” Enough torturing Arthur. “Fine, tell her you heard a couple distributors talking about acquiring Ping. That they are in talks with the big boy owners. You don’t want to spread rumors, but you thought she should know.”

“You’re mean. Then what? She’ll ask who and where they are.” Arthur was a tech guy in more than sales. He knew how much force a fall mat could take and the strength of their clothes. Most of what they did at shows was clothing and safety related gear. Safety was essential as kids got into martial arts more and more.

Clothing styles varied and individualization was growing as more people tried it. Which meant new supply companies popped up all the time to compete. Many flopped. Some like Ping had found a niche in traditional styles. Their lines were classic. Right Fit wanted to be cutting edge.

Ping employees were conscious of the competition and that the owners could sell them in a second for a tidy profit. “Tell her you didn’t get names, but you’ll find them. Take her around looking. Of course, you can’t find them. Maybe, they’re in a private meeting? You’ll let her know when you see them. That way you can go back and flirt more with her.”

“Wild goose chase.” Arthur didn’t object too much and smoothed his hair.

“And compliment her shoes. Buy her a coffee. Geez, I’m gay. Getting girls shouldn’t be my area.”

“Her shoes? She’ll think I’m gay,” Arthur said.

Kyle took another look. Open toe with red painted toenails, black high heels with red dragons on the side. “No man, those are fuck me heels. Tell her you like the Chinese dragon art. She’ll bite.”

“Her restraint is better than Jim’s. You need to get Jim alone and make a move.” Arthur popped a breath mint. “You owe me one.”

Kyle watched Arthur catch Ms. Chen and lure her away with business talk. It was the one thing she couldn’t resist. A little tradeshow fun couldn’t hurt. Kyle enjoyed yanking Jim around since Jim refused to flat out say he wasn’t interested or to just go out with Kyle. He needed to find Jim’s weak spot. What couldn’t Jim resist?

Walking over, Kyle helped Jim position part of the booth backdrop. “You can run, but you know you’ll see me again. Nice set up today.”

“Ping and Right Fit. Close in the alphabet so close in proximity. Your company should pay for prominent end space.” Jim pointed to the huge booths on the ends.

Kyle shook his hand. “Nah. We do quality and style in the martial arts stuff. Those guys are into quantity and flash for the uncommitted. We’ll take that business, but we don’t go in that big. Wastes money to over compete.” He moved closer. “Hit my next belt in Tae Kwon Do. How are you doing?”

Straightening the picture on the booth wall, Jim shrugged. “Good. I’m considering others. I’m more about control and strength.”

“I’d be good for that,” Kyle joked. “Come on. Ms. Chen is nowhere in sight. Quite being so paranoid.”

Jim stopped arranging and looked at Kyle. “Stop. We have a lot in common, and we could be friends, but I’m not playing out my personal life at a work function.”

“You won’t see me outside of work so you’re tying my hands.”

Jim glared. “I’ve told you. It’s not right. We’re competitors. There are at least four good reasons for us not to do anything. Our careers are number one.”

Leaning in, Kyle got close to Jim’s ear as if what he said was a trade secret. But he inhaled the masculine scent and had to control his desire to kiss Jim right there. “When I get you naked, we won’t be talking about customers or company policy. You’ll be begging for more.”

Jim took a half step back and leveled a harsh stare at Kyle. There was fire behind his eyes. The stare lacked the icy edge Ms. Chen managed, but it said back off.

“You seem to be doing the begging. I think you’re working very hard for another no. Plenty of men here would say yes so it must be our products.” Jim set a new pad sample on the counter area.

“I didn’t know you had a new mat coming out. Actually innovating, Jim? Shocking for Ping.” Kyle felt the pad.

“As much protection with half the bulk.” Jim nodded with pride.

“Nice. But I’m not the tech guy. I’ll let Arthur press Ms. Chen for specs. I want to know why you keep dodging me. Even at the martial arts class, you won’t spar with me even though we’re well matched.” Kyle had first notice Jim at the academy. Maybe that was it, seeing Jim all sweaty in combat. L.A. had a few good
academies. Jim had walked into Kyle’s about fifteen months ago.

Then Jim had been at the very next tradeshow Kyle had worked. It was fate. With Jim’s passion for the competitions, Kyle knew they were a fit. If only Jim would give it a try.

After the initial rejection, Kyle had truly tried to get Jim out of his mind. Hitting on other men, dating and enjoying them was one thing, but he couldn’t get the idea of Jim’s quiet restraint out of his head. Sparing with Jim would be ten times as arousing, especially in competition.

Enjoy the Excerpt!!!

Jessica’s Salon was a fixture in Lucky Springs. Some had tried to open competing places, but they never lasted. People were just used to coming here. Her great aunt had owned it and passed it down. Every day, Jessica styled hair and listened to all the news. Part therapist, part friend, and part beauty genius—she loved it!

This morning was her favorite client, the one who actually wanted to hear what was going on with Jessica. Her cousin, Cassie. She’d been home for six months straight and showed no sign of going back to her nomadic ways to take pictures. A handsome neighbor had gotten wandering Cassie to stay put.

“Hey, Jess!” Cassie grinned from ear-to-ear as she slipped into the salon before the official opening time. Cassie was always smiling now.

“Hi, Cassie. You look like the cat that got the rat.”

“Or three.” Cassie hugged her cousin and headed for the shampoo station. “Hi, Andrew!”

Jessica had completely forgotten Andrew was coming in early to help his boyfriend, Stuart, with inventory. Andrew was the best stylist and her best friend in Louisiana. She’d met him in beauty school and hired him as soon as she had her own salon. He brought along Stuart. The cute and serious man managed the office, payroll, ordering and inventory. Most of the women loved having cute, younger men fussing over their hair. Their husbands felt better knowing the pair was gay. It worked out.

“Hey, Cassie!” Andrew winked from the back room.

Jessica caught an extra bounce in Cassie’s mood today. “What’s up?” she asked automatically as she shampooed Cassie’s soft brown locks.

“Nothing new here. Life’s great. What about you?” Cassie stared up at Jess.

“Same old here, too. The guys are doing inventory.”

“You don’t look okay.” Cassie toweled off her hair and moved to the big chair.

“I’m fine. When you’re about to turn thirty-five, we’ll see how you take it.” Jessica combed out Cassie’s hair and saw the smile in the mirror. “Okay, fine, maybe you’re so happy and in love with Dominic that you won’t care.”

“Sorry. I wish you were this happy. So it’s your birthday? Or is the problem that Frank hasn’t been around?” They acted like sisters, and the honesty between them was refreshing.

Normally, Jessica had to support and sympathize with clients, whether she agreed or not. But with Cassie, Jessica couldn’t hide her real feelings. “Both. Neither. Frank never made any huge promises to come back. But I always thought by now he’d be back.” Frank was her high school boyfriend, but he’d wanted college and to take the world by storm with his best friend, Eric.

Jessica just wanted to cut hair and stay in small town Lucky Springs forever. Her family, her friends and life were all right here. Frank planned to make millions and move back to run his business from Lucky Springs. But times had been tough, and now those dreams felt silly and idealistic. “I’m an idiot.”

“No, you’re not!” Cassie jumped in. “Frank has come back every year, sometimes twice. To see you! He’s got it just as bad as you do. The economy is still tough. Lucky Springs is doing okay, but the factory is slowing down. No layoffs but still. Not that that is an excuse. Frank should’ve moved back years ago. Has he called or anything?”

Jessica shook her head.

Andrew slid out from the back room and hugged Jessica from behind. “No and he’s crazy, if you ask me. That man might be hot, but he doesn’t know what he’s got.”

Smiling, Jess let her head rest on Andrew’s strong shoulder. He was sexy with blond spiky hair, blue eyes and a winning smile. Stuart was more classically handsome with brown hair, but the pair always teased her, hitting on her as if it were a dare for her to say yes. Some days, she wanted to call their bluff just to see what they’d do. They were so sexy. She loved them, knew them and they were here. To watch them together would be amazing. “What is it about the one that got away?” she asked.

Cassie shrugged. “Until now, I was always the one going away so I can’t answer that. But you’ve dated other guys. It’s not as if you’ve been in a convent for fifteen years. Maybe Frank’s pal Eric is the problem? I don’t remember him being a jerk in high school, but swinging single men in the big city…”

“No, Eric is a great guy. He always gives Frank and me plenty of time alone in town, but he’s great to hang out with. I had a crush on him in junior high. If Frank ever dumped me, I might go after Eric but they’re always together so it’d get weird. What am I doing wrong?” Jess hated it. All these hot men, and she slept alone.

“Nothing!” Cassie and Andrew said in unison.

“You’re the hottest single woman in Lucky Springs.” Andrew pointed her toward the mirror. “Look at that sexy mocha skin, glossy brown hair with those auburn highlights done by yours truly. And you have green eyes that men get lost in. It’s not you. What can we do to make you feel better?”

“I don’t know. A one-night-stand won’t fix it. I want to feel sexy and desired, not cheap and used. I want someone to pay attention to me. I just want to enjoy my birthday and not think about everything. Great sex and to feel beautiful. Is that too much to ask?” Jess stared in the mirror. She wasn’t a bad package.

“Stuart and I are always available.” Andrew squeezed her waist.

“I wouldn’t ask you to sacrifice like that.” Jess kissed his cheek.

“We might be able to fix this.” Cassie smiled.

Jess held up her hands. “No, not your boyfriend’s brother. I don’t want charity.”

“You’re too hot to be labeled charity.” Andrew nudged her into the chair.

Cassie looked at Andrew. “Not him. I think we need to tell her.”

Andrew lifted an eyebrow. “You’re sure?”

“What? Tell me what?” Jess’ hopes lifted. Maybe Frank was coming in? She refused to ask out loud. No doubt about it, Jess needed to wean herself off the dream.

Cassie sat in the next chair. “I got mixed up with Dom because of these parties he has. He was my neighbor and attractive, but when I moved back, I heard a lot of noise and went over to check. They’re into the group thing—sort of. And I got pulled into it, too. Way hot.”

“Parties? Group?” Jessica’s brain spun, but her body tingled. “You sleep with just random groups?”

“No, not random. It’s not like that.” Cassie blushed. “Just Dom and Monty and Alex and sometimes Ham.”

“Wow.” Jessica swallowed. “Sometimes Ham?”

“He’s a little kinkier than I am, but I’m sure he’ll find the right girl. You’re not right for him, but I think we could arrange something. Plenty of guys at these parties would love to make your birthday memorable.”

“Not your guys?” Jessica shook her head. Was she really thinking about this as an option? Cassie was serious. If she were lying, she’d be giggling by now. Cassie wasn’t this good at practical jokes.

“No, those are all mine. Ham is unique. But the other three, no other girls for them. But we still do the party thing once a month. It’s really hot to watch and be watched.”

“You’re serious?” Jess looked up at Andrew. “You know about this?”

“Yes. It’s not like I go every month. But Stuart and I have been known to go just to show off and watch. There are hot men. We like looking at girls, too.”

“Sure. But how is it I don’t know about this? I know everything that happens in this town! People spill their guts in these chairs. Why didn’t you tell me?” She smacked them both on the arms.

“Stuart and I have offered to help you personally. Repeatedly.” Andrew folded his arms.

Cassie gave her cousin a look but let that comment go. “I didn’t know until I moved back. It’s a big secret so the more conservative of the town don’t freak. It’s not that big, really. I know it’s not normal, but it works for us. Not that I’m suggesting you need that every day. But one time with a group of men just focused on pleasing you… It’d be a birthday you’ll want to remember.”

“Pleasing me?” Jess pushed away thoughts of porn with demanding men.

Andrew leaned down. “Exactly. There are men who love sex and love to get women off. You deserve it!”

“I couldn’t do that at a party with people watching.” Jessica rejected the idea on her reputation alone. The grandmothers of Lucky Springs came here to get their hair set. They could ruin her weekly revenue.

“Okay, fine. We can set up a private party. That’s how it started for me. I think four men would be good. Three can get the job done, but it’s your birthday.” Cassie made it sound as if they were ordering enough cake.

Jess took a few deep breaths. “Who are these men? I don’t want to know. This isn’t about love, Cassie. It’s about sex and birthday fun. I don’t want to pick men. This is insane. How will I know it’s safe? I mean, will they just show up at my house?” Jess got up and grabbed her scissors. “I need to trim your hair before the regulars arrive. Thanks for the offer, but it’s too much for me.”

“Don’t say that. You’ve had a bit of a dry spell.” Andrew leaned on the counter. “What if you’re blindfolded? You won’t see them. We’ll pick the guys. It’ll be really safe and mysterious. Super hot.”

Cassie smiled wide. “Definitely. And they’ll never tell you. These are guys from the party who will keep the secret. They’ll play by the rules, always use protection and want to please. We can trust them.”

“But I won’t know who they are. I’ll be blindfolded. This is nuts. That’s not safe. What has Dom done to you?” Jess asked.

“So many wonderful things. I’m trying to share the goodness. Just not my men.” Cassie shrugged.

“Stuart!” Jessica called.

He stepped out from the office with clipboard in hand. “What do you need?”

“Do you hear this? Do you know about this?” she demanded.

A smile tugged at his lips. “Obviously, I don’t let Andrew go to parties alone. I think it’d be good for you. If you’re not sure about the safety, have Cassie and Dom chaperone the private party. She can get video just in case you ever want to see it. If you’re at all curious, you’ll like it more than you think.”

“Sure, my cousin wants to watch me in a group sex romp, blindfolded, and she’ll record it.” Jess tapped the scissors to the back of her hand. The pinch told her it was no dream.

Cassie spun in the chair. “Remember Kitty and Violet from junior high? My friends who sort of drifted away?”

“Sure,” Jess replied.

“I’ve seen them together, with the hubby. They’re a three-way since forever. Watching you have a great birthday won’t bother me. I’m sure the men will be worth watching. That’s what I’m into watching. So quit being a prude and let Andrew and I set this up. Blindfold and lots of condoms and lube. Any other requests?” She winked at Andrew.

“Sure, tie me down so I can’t change my mind.” She threw her hands up in the air.

“I was going to suggest that.” Andrew nodded to Stuart.

“Sounds good to me,” Stuart added.

If Stuart thought it was safe, it wouldn’t be that extreme…and Jess wasn’t a prude. Her brain argued, but her body liked the idea. “Back up a second. Being blindfolded you want some sense of security. How is Cassie safety? Four men. She’s no match for them if something goes weird.”

“They aren’t into force. These aren’t BDSM parties. Stop being paranoid.” Cassie used her stern voice.

“If Dom and you are there, to make sure it’s all safe. And it’s in your house. Fine.” Jess got busy cutting hair. She needed to focus on reality because what she’d just agreed to felt like someone else’s life.

“You’ll thank us later.” Andrew gave her a kiss on the cheek and followed Stuart into the back. No doubt, they were deciding whom to cast in Jess’ birthday orgy. The idea alone aroused her.

Once a Texan, always a Texan, and Brian Beaumont has come back home to open his high-end western-wear shop. Not everyone is thrilled with the gay son of a Texas millionaire opening a clothing store. Lucky for Brian, his new brother-in-law sends protection from Raider’s Bodyguard Service. If only Brian could resist the hunky muscled Texas native assigned to guard his body day and night.

Jones never wanted to go back to Texas. He left at eighteen for many reasons, but his career is more important than the demons of his past. Always a professional, he meets his match in the tempting Brian. The line between business and pleasure vanishes when their mutual love of sex, rope and power play takes over.

Excerpt :

The Western wear shop designed like an old saloon wasn’t yet open, but the flurry of activity made Brian smile. His dream was coming true, and in a couple weeks, the shop would open. Brian’s cell rang, and he grabbed it off the hardwood counter.

“Hey, Mrs. Raider,” he answered teasingly. His sister, Penny, had pulled off the biggest wedding in Texas history and jetted off to Hawaii with her bodyguard hubby, Grayson Raider.

“Stop it,” she replied.

He could hear the smile. “How’s that sex on the beach? Make sure you use sunscreen. You burn.”

“Brian, it’s my honeymoon. I’m not doing that on the beach. You’re terrible. How’s the shop?” she asked.

“Coming together. You didn’t have to come up for air to check on me.” Brian was so happy for his sister. The couple glowed with passion, and Penny marrying a Yankee had sent tidal waves through the family. The fact that it didn’t bother Penny at all told Brian it was forever.

“We’ll be back in time for the grand opening, but we’re sending you an early present.” Her voice was soft.

Brian knew it was more than a gift. “Present?”

“Dad mentioned you might have some issues. Protestors and stuff.”

“Please. It’s leather, boots and jackets. Pure Texas with a bit more class. They’re only going to protest because I’m gay and a Beaumont. It’s nothing. Ignoring it is best.” Brian had heard it already, and nothing would stop him.

“But you are high profile because of Dad’s money. Isn’t that the excuse you used when I went to Italy?” she replied.

“Oh no, you don’t. No, Penny, I’m not a sweet girl who needs a bodyguard.” Brain knew being gay meant he might as well being wearing a dress to a lot of his family, but Penny didn’t think that way. Brian worked out and could defend himself, but the gay label came first. Still he loved everything Texas, riding, roping and leather.

“Big tough movie stars use bodyguards. Grayson went to a lot of trouble to pick the right team.”

“Team?” Brian leaned on one of the pillars in the store. The rope to wind around them was still in a box. He had so much to do. “I don’t need men underfoot to get in the way.”

“Think about your employees, Brian. All the workers and delivery people. It’s not just you that could be hurt or scared. The bodyguards will keep things under control.” Penny made it sound so sensible and easy.

“Is this what I did to you?” he asked.

“Pretty much. And you drooled over Grayson. I won’t do that to Jones. Just take the help. Family perks from your new brother-in-law.”

“Is this Jones a Raider?” Brian knew how attractive those men were. That was another type of distraction he didn’t need.

“No, Jones is an employee from the L.A. branch. He’s dealt with this stuff before—all that gay marriage back and forth. It’ll be fine.” Penny sounded confident.

“This is Texas, not California,” Brian reminded her.

“Will you relax? He’s a professional. And when Grayson and I get back in for the opening, he’ll review the situation and decide what’s best. Now, I’ve got to get changed for the luau. Promise me you’ll play nice with Jones and let him do his job.”

“When is he arriving?” Brian asked.

“Promise me,” Penny pushed back.

The front door opened, and Brian looked up. A tall man with shoulders that took over the doorway stole Brian’s focus. Black hair, dark eyes, and muscles for days. Jeans and a gray T-shirt were filled out to perfection, but the black boots were the hottest part. Those told Brian that this guy knew style. Brian’s gaydar tingled.

“Fine, I promise to play nice. Gotta go. Work to do. You need to get back to making me a niece to spoil and style.”

“Brian!” Penny replied.

“Aloha.” Brian disconnected and turned to the new guy. “Can I help you?”

“Brian Beaumont?” His deep voice made Brian pray this was Jones.

“Guilty.” Brian smiled. “You are?”

“Jones Preston from Raiders. You’re expecting me?” He held out a hand.

“Just got the news from my sister.” Brian took his hand, and the spark made his shake a little too long. He pulled back and wiped his palm before his turned into a giggling idiot. “I’m still putting the place together. Not much for you to do.”

“Protection is all the time. My team is scouting the area. Interviewing other owners and making sure what we’re dealing with. Seeing if anyone will be trouble.” Jones looked around. “Nice set up.”

“Thanks. But really, I picked a gay friendly area. I can’t imagine there will be an issue. It’s the conservatives. My Dad runs in those circles. So it could be an issue there. Texas can be weird about things like that. My Dad is big; so odds are they won’t hurt me or anyone. It’s just a big show.”

“Let me worry about that.” Jones walked closer. “For the next two weeks, you let me worry about your safety and you listen to me. I’ve got your back, and I’m not putting up with any arguments or games.”

Brian could think of dozens of naughty games to play with a man so tightly wound. Jones oozed power and control. “I appreciate my brother-in-law’s concern. I’ll let you do your thing. But I’m not a damsel in distress. I grew up in Texas. I know what I’m dealing with. Not sure L.A. guys can handle it.” Brian leaned in with his hands on the counter and tightened his muscles to show off.

A barely noticeable tug at the corner of Jones’ mouth gave Brian a thrill. The man wasn’t all gloom and business.

“I’m sure you can defend yourself. These situations can get heated and tense. Protestors can turn crazy. You need more than muscle for that. You need a neutral party to calm things down.” Jones glanced at Brian’s nice sculpted arms.

“I’m not looking for trouble. It’s not like I opened a gay bar or dating service. Penny and I always loved fashion. I like leather and the Texas look. Being gay owned doesn’t make this a gay business. It’s not like my leather jackets are done in rainbow.” Brian took a deep breath. Part of him believed he’d found his place in the world. He knew what he wanted, but still he felt so alone. Was the world against him?

“I understand. Once you’re open and people are here for the merchandise, things will probably calm down. It’s the grand opening and the prep time…this is when you’re most vulnerable. Others are forming opinions without information. Anything can happen.”

The urge to keep arguing with the sexy man kept Brian’s mouth going. “But nothing has happened. No threats or protests.”

He’d only been in the space for a couple days.

Jones nodded. “Fair enough. But you’re barely started by the looks of it. Grayson said the lease began a day or so ago. Troublemakers take time to get followers. The classy ones are putting pressure on your dad to do something to stop you. Move you to L.A. or New York. It might be quiet. Or it could escalate. You have deliveries coming. Strangers will be in and out. Very vulnerable. One could slip in and plant a bomb.”

“A bomb?” Brian shivered at the idea. “Come on. Get real.”

“I am. With my guys watching, no one will get in and cause trouble. All strangers will be watched and names taken. It lets people know we’re paying attention so if someone tries something, we know who was in the shop. Just asking for identification is a deterrent.” Jones was confident and serious.

Brian relaxed. “That’s where you come in. Protecting my employees is important to me. They shouldn’t be in danger because of my personal life.”

“So you’ll let me do my job?” Jones asked.

“Not sure I ever had a choice.”

“It’s your shop. I can’t protect you without your cooperation,” Jones admitted.

“Met my sister?” Brian asked.

Jones shrugged. “No, got my orders from Grayson by phone.”

“My sister is a force of nature. She gets her way. You report I’m resisting, and I’ll never hear the end of it. But I’ll cooperate.” Brian studied Jones, wanting to flirt and cooperate naked, but the all business signals shut down Brian’s boy cruising. Clearly, Jones was serious about his work. “So how do you think you’re going to handle all the Texas stuff? I promise, this isn’t L.A.”

Jones smiled wide. “No, it sure isn’t. But I’ll manage.” The soft Texas drawl rolled off Jones’ tongue.

Dazzled, Brian wanted more of Jones and that magic tongue.

Dazzled, Brian wanted more of Jones and that magic tongue.

“You’re from Texas?” Brian asked.

Jones smiled. Brian recovered quickly, but Jones had thrown him off balance. Jones seemed at ease.

“I lived here until I was eighteen. As soon as I could, I left for a safer place.” Jones didn’t talk about his sexuality much. At least not at work. “L.A. is much safer.”

“Dallas isn’t bad in the city. I escaped to New York for college, but this is home. I’ve accepted it; now, they’ll accept me.”

“Like it or not?” Jones admired Brian’s courage and conviction.

That and his piercing green eyes. Brian’s brown hair was short and would pass any manly inspection. The lean muscled form also met with Jones’ approval. Brian could protect himself, but Jones knew his interest in Brian’s body was not at all professional. He’d avoided involvement with a client thus far, but the day had arrived. Jones was attracted to a client. To deny it was pointless, but Jones had to push it away. His job was far more important than a fling.

“Texas is home. I’m not running. I like my Uncle Lubby’s little ranch. I could ride and rope as well as any kid growing up. I bet you’re good with a rope.” Brian flirted.

“I do okay.” Jones wanted to give in. Back in L.A., if they’d met in a bar, they’d be making out by now. Jones would take him home, and after a night of great sex, they’d be over. But Jones valued his job. No way would he ruin his reputation.

“So you went to L.A. and became a bodyguard?” Brian prompted.

It was normal for people to want to know something about the person they’d let into their life to protect them. This was less flirt and more sanity. “I started as a bartender and then found I preferred the bouncer role. I got hired by some minor celebrities who wanted security.”

“The boy toy in a gay bar,” Brian teased.

“It was a gay bar, but I was hired for muscle, nothing more. This celebrity liked the biker types. Anyway, it got me other work, and discretion goes a long way in this business. I ended up at Raider’s.” Jones looked Brian in the eye. “So I know something about Texas and about being gay. Trust me, I’ll keep you safe.”

Brian nodded. “Thanks.”

Jones wanted to get closer. To feel the heat from Brian. He’d been single a long time. Random sex never gave Jones what he wanted, but most relationships never got as deep as the information he’d just shared with Brian.

Blurb:
In a small town, secrets are hard to keep. But when photojournalist, Cassie Hawks, comes home to Lucky Springs, no one says a word about what her neighbors have been up to while she’s been away. Noises next door draw her to peep on a sex party that enthralls her. The passion, the openness and the multicultural mix inspire and arouse her— the home owners most of all. The sexy Meriwether men tempt her into a private party, and she’s hooked. They willingly help her with her photography and keep her coming back for more. But can she stay put and get on board with their big sex parties?

Excerpt:

It was a cool evening, and Cassie threw open the windows of her small house. She’d only been back for two weeks, but Lucky Springs, Louisiana was home. While she enjoyed New Orleans for vacations, her work had taken her there far too many times in recent years.

First Katrina then the oil spill. Both brought photojournalists from all over. She needed a break from the outside world. Lucky Springs was small and filled with friends and family.

Her neighbors on one side were new. In her town, “new” meant in the last five years. Old Roscoe Meriwether had passed away, and his sons, Dominic, Hamilton and Montgomery had moved in. Some thought they would only settle the estate, but they’d opened a business and stayed. There was a fourth man, Alex, she knew from elementary school. Cassie had met all of those attractive men over the years, but one left an intense impression.

Mrs. Jenkins, the neighbor on her other side, informed Cassie that those Meriwether boys had kept Cassie’s yard spotless. Cassie owed them a thank you and a homemade pie. Tomorrow, she’d venture over and be neighborly. No doubt, she should’ve done it sooner.

Her elderly Cajun neighbor could be counted on to have all the gossip and updates including details about the three sexy black men she called “those Meriwether boys”. Cassie was curious, but in a small town she needed the update.

It’d been a long time since Cassie had enjoyed anything like a personal life. Traveling around made it hard to enjoy more than a fling here and there. She was determined to take a break and reconnect with friends and family. There were men here, most of whom she’d known all her life and most of whom didn’t go for career girls who traveled around the world. The small town had a big factory on one end and lots of farms on the other.

Looking out the window, she could see the lights from the Meriwether place in the dark night. They had a big lot while her home used to be a guesthouse on Mrs. Jenkins’ property. Mrs. Jenkins had kept most of the land, and Cassie had a cozy place with low upkeep.

The wind whispered along the houses, and odd moans traveled along from the Meriwether place. Moans and shouts. What were those men up to? Three were related, but Alex was involved with Monty. Hot but gay, that still left two sexy straight men around— all were good to look at.

Curiosity and lack of sex got the better of her. Cassie put on a robe and shoved her feet into old hiking boots by the door before she slipped out into the night. The walk was longer than she’d remembered, but the men had planted lovely additions to the backyard.

The big, screened-in porch was void of people, but a couple of windows were open, letting out the sounds of sex. Quietly, Cassie slipped into the screened area and crouched by an open window. Peering in, she quickly ducked down.

Blinking deliberately, she looked in again. There had to be twenty people, maybe more if the group extended to the front of the house. She’d seen a lot of things in her work. Blood, death, nudity and tears didn’t shock her when viewed through a camera lens. But up close and in her home town, right next door— this shocked her. It could only be called a sex party. An orgy on her own street?

Tonight's Glee

Tonight's Glee officially sucked! I have no idea what happened but the whole thing flopped for me. Sue's insults were good as ever and a nice twist with Sue coaching an opposing team...b ot that's about ten minutes of the hour.

But the songs were ick and the drama is dull. I can watch a soap opera.

Next week's must be better!!! My happy hour wasn't so happy this week!

Double the Glee!

Okay, so I didn't care about the super bowl but I loved the episode of Glee after it:) Sue is back to being her evil self...

And another new episode made it the best TV week ever!! Kurt is so cute...I hope they get that story line moving. It's been stalling slow. In a book the reader would be getting bored already:)  But it's TV so they can stretch it out and break into a musical number.

I'm also enjoying Raising Hope after Glee. We'll see if it lasts and stays great. But Glee is still fun. As long Katy Perry keeps writing good songs, they've got plenty to sing...

the weekend is here! so many errands, and I still haven't watched Bones in my DVR...

snowy in chicago

I've been a bad bad blogger. I can only blame life in general. grandfather's health. sister's new baby. trying to write and work full time. I know lots of people out there understand.

And now I'm going to do my best to blog at least once a week. As many of you know, I'm a big fan of TV shows....so in addition to sharing my book news....I'll talk about my favorite shows as well.

Hot In Cleveland is adorable! Fish out of water, fun! It's so nice to see the midwest judging the hollywood shallow divas. they're still such likeable characters but Betty White steals the show.

I know sitcoms have fallen out a lot in TV but I'm glad to see some are still out there.

Now retired at 35...which follows Hot In Cleveland over on TVLand....that show leaves me mixed. the premise is cute but I'm so jealous. i'd LOVE to quit my job and write full time while living off my parents retirement. but my parents aren't retired yet....so I guess I'll keep my day job.

But the writing continues. Get ready for Feb 9th! The first in the Lucky Springs series....Joining the Party. It's menage +, super hot, and interracial erotic romance. Hope you'll give it a look. Here's the cover and blurb....
