Mike & Molly reviews (January)/ Sean Gone...Big Bang commentary too

Sorry about not blogging regularly...but honestly, since the great Christmas episodes, I've been sort of bummed with sitcoms...The Big Bang Theory hasn't been on weekly, lots of reruns AND the sad crap about Penny's career shifting her to propose? WTF! I was soooo disappointed. I'm not a Penny fan as it is and I wanted her to be more independent...Ugh. However, Sheldon is always funny...his impression of a good dog is priceless :) Photo: Was Sheldon obedient? Watch last night's #BigBangTheory now to find out: http://bit.ly/GJDYJY

But seriously Sean Saves the World...stopped production. I liked this sitcom at first. Some of the episodes fell flat. I kept waiting for them to take a chance. To go edgier. It's a sitcom, sure. It's on network TV...but so what? There's a teenager daughter but still....Sean never gets a boyfriend? No dates that sleep over? His mom got more action!
Photo: Scheming… lots of scheming.
Why have a sitcom with a gay central character and ignore it...sure jokes and oh you had a daughter? How did that happen? It's actually an old joke...which could've shined if they dared to push the envelope. They had good comic talent but it was all held back to not offend/upset people. So it's probably canceled.

Mike & Molly is doing better...I do love the added balance. But it's up and down...

1/13: What Molly Hath Wrought...

This episode ROCKED! Molly drunk/setting fire to her paper. Awesome! Mike putting out the fire with the sink sprayer. Very cool...As a writer, I get how she feels. Some stuff you read and it's great. Some stuff sucks. That's the life of a writer and it can be depressing. Her going to work with Vince and getting out is exactly right. Put the mundane part of your brain to work and your creative part gets a rest and starts to click in. Doing dishes and laundry works well too...
Photo: Don't miss Molly operating heavy machinery on tonight's #MikeAndMolly, starting NOW on CBS!

(Note: you can't just go drive a forklift...you actually would need to be trained but with Vince in charge...lol)

1/20: Mike & Molly's Excellent Adventure

I hated this episode. Sorry, but I did. She pubbed something on a blog. Fine. Celebrate: Photo: Join #MikeAndMolly on their excellent adventure, starting NOW on CBS!

A nice dinner out...a new cuisine to break out of the rut? That was my expectation.

No...let's test drove a Rolls Royce. Really? Then go to a fancy hotel and screw in a room. Funny but the stairwell thing was zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Really 70+ floors. Granted, some people Hustle up the Hancock every year for a race. But being overweight myself, sure it's good exercise but there's a point. Come on...we'll pound on the door and say we forgot our key card or something. Then make a run for it. That'd be funnier.

I get the idea of breaking people out of their routine, I love my routine, but it could've been set up better. A restaurant with exotic cuisine or something else...this episode was scattered and annoying.

Molly is supposed to be the sane one in her family...wine for mom and sis, plus pot for sis, pills for mom. Molly having a rebellious side is funny and fits her family but this was just weird. Wine with some super spicy Tai or Indian food could've been gold.

1/27: Weekend at Peggy's:

Now we're talking. Gnome through the window! Mom wants to be paid. She loves holding money over Molly... Love these actresses! they're perfect together :) Mike can actually pay off Joyce and Molly tries. But Joyce likes the power...

Melissa McCarthy (Official Fan Page)'s photo.

Molly gets a case of the big girl panties and wants to move out with Mike in tow. They end up at Mike's Mom's house...wow...so much less fun. Yet it's funny as hell with Peggy vacuuming in the middle of the night. She's awesome wacked out on sleeping pills. Dog licking feet...yuck...

Losing the little dog...of course it leads them home where tempers have cooled. Families who don't hold grudges are the best kind. That's what Molly has! This is what Mike & Molly does so well! It's not a big event or gag...it's the family/extended family dynamic, comic timing and delivery, and SITuation COMedy... the definition of a sitcom. Stay strong M&M...

Sitcom Blog: Mike and Molly 12/16 They Shoot Asses, Don't They...

Sorry I've been random! I'll need to do better in the new year. The holidays have taken over my life...I'm sure plenty of people understand. Either it's your stuff or (like me) everyone else's stuff. I don't have kids. I don't have inlaws....but I get dragged to see the nephews and help with everyone else's life choices...lol

So my life is sort of like a sitcom...

On Mike & Molly, I'd be Victoria...no I don't smoke pot (I DON'T need the munchies! I've got the OA issues...) but romance never works out. I get pulled around in my family drama and never seem to be the center...

But let's focus on the episode: "They Shoot Asses, Don't They??

This is a wonderful return of Mike & Molly's balance. It wasn't all about physical comedy from Melissa (I don't mind it in small doses when it fits, I love her movies...but it was overtaking things in episodes earlier this season). Mike gets hurt at work and, rightly, it spooks him.

Anyone with food issue (no wonder, I don't need pot! I have food :)...knows that stress/depression will trigger a return to the bad habits of overeating. We know it, we still do it. That's why it's an addiction and a struggle. Food is hard too, because you need food to live.

Food (like other addictive substances) doesn't judge/lecture or reject.

It certainly doesn't shoot you in the ass! Pizza totally would've been my move and I love that this show gets it and doesn't shy away from it.

Mike slips on his diet in a big way and Vince binges with him (a good comedy duo these two)...Carl's over attachment to his partner shows...but their bond is sweet. It's a wonderful return to the heart that made the show great. We even see Harry at the OA meeting with Mike and Molly.

And Peggy hugs Molly. OMG! lol...heartwarming episode.

I hope M&M keeps up the balance of family/fun/heart/and enough of the new Molly to keep that energy going without overwhelming the rest of the cast/show.

Happy Holidays! I swear I'll keep up the fun once we're in 2014!

Sitcom blogging nov 18's Mike and Molly...

So I don't blog enough and while I love my writing, all writing and nothing else would be dull. Of course I do more than that...what I can't give up is TV and I should probably share my thoughts. If nothing else to keep my blog alive!

Sitcoms are my favs plus a little Supernatural...lol. It's all storytelling and what writer doesn't love that??? So I'm going to give this a try and we'll see if anyone likes it.

I'm a plus sized woman and I love sitcoms. I swear, I'll follow Melissa McCarthy anywhere. Like Family Guy's church of the Fonz, okay maybe not full on worship (catholic school flashbacks would be bad!). But being big in Hollywood can't be easy.

I liked her in Bridesmaids, I loved her in the Heat (identity theft...haven't seen it but eventually I'll give in despite the horrid makeup and hair--seriously that is a major turn off). I love her hosting on SNL!

But where I first really found and loved her is on Mike and Molly! (I tried Gilmour Girls, I can't stand the mom...just couldn't).

Also, I'm a Chicago girl too...so I was in from the beginning with this show :)

I loved the first 3 seasons!! Now it's different...the first episode was different. That point of change...and when stress/pressure is that bad, a big change is needed. She's got a great hubby and if she's that miserable in her job...I don't blame her. But I was curious about how it'd go forward.

I might circle back to blog about the first two episodes but let's start where we are with a little background of me....and how I relate to M&M.

This new season has been very different. The NEW M&M... At first I hoped it would follow the path of an episode that I loved: "Vince takes a Bath" because it highlighted Melissa's physical comedy powers but it included the whole family as well. That's not exactly what we're getting now.

What we're seeing this season is Molly with supporting cast. One physical gag after another won't hold a show together, I'm sorry to say. I love that she quit her job to be a writer, it opens things up for her. (I quit my day job to write full time so I totally relate to the stress/freedom and sheer opportunity...but reality does set in and I hope they get there).

This episode was Molly attacking a beeping smoke detector (yep, we've all been there but it'd still be even funnier with mom and sis sitting there drinking wine and mocking Molly's stress over it...) I hope M&M finds the balance of adding more physical comedy but keeping all the great sub plots/supporting characters in the mix.

Now, the teasers for the episode had remarks about 50 shades of grey. LOL. OMG...really, she writes something a little hot (I write erotic romance and some of those words for 'boner' would never be in anything published--newbie lol!) but most of it was about coffin surfing/touching dead people. The previews are off as well. If you want good erotic romance stuff...follow me on facebook https://www.facebook.com/cheryldragonauthor and twitter @cheryldragon

Honestly, I was SOOO excited Molly might be following my life of writing hot stuff but she didn't. She could go to a BDSM shop/info/demo OR a group about polyamory....NO she was poking dead people. No erotic romance pub I know touches necrophilia...wow. Seriously, getting high with her sister is kind of funny but a weird pairing with kinky sex.

I guess I had more to say than I thought :D I still love the show. Swoosie Kurtz is so damn funny and Mike's mom Peggy is just like the old ladies in any good Chicago neighborhood. Tough, mouthy...God fearing but can lie to a priest without blinking!! Love Carl's Grandma too! Where is she??

This is one of the most diverse sitcoms out there. Black, white, old, young, wine and pot! Bring back Harry, and we've got straight AND gay! I loved that twist (last season) of his coming out late in life. A gay man struggling with his weight and coming out...his friends are unbelievably supportive--this could be a really sweet sub plot. Where was that all men's OA meeting? He took Mike there once ;) It could be really cute (especially now that IL has made gay marriage legal...can you imagine Vince at a gay wedding????). Sorry, my writer got loose for a minute there...

Truly, I hope they don't toss away the diversity that is Chicago and the loving acceptance that is part of Mike & Molly for pure physical comedy!! The show might be finding it's way to a new balance so I'm hanging in there...
